Bavaria City Racing introduce Jennifer Mullan

A native of Newcastle County Down, Jennifer’s love and involvement for motorsport began at her local circuit Kirkistown, where she worked as a marshal at race and rally events. Over the years, her work as a motorsport marshal took her as far as Brands Hatch in the UK for DTM and the world famous Le Mans 24-hour race in France. Jennifer went on to sample her own taste of on track action in 2007 driving a Formula Vee in Kirkistown, thanks to an initiative by David Sheane of Sheane Cars to encourage new people into the sport. From there, Jennifer has gone from strength to strength re-writing the history books along the way. For 2012, Jennifer has decided to return to the team she began with and join the Formula Sheane Championship with Sheane Cars. Her first outing was in Bishopscourt in Northern Ireland, a circuit which had not seen car racing for over 40 years and is located just a stones-throw from where she grew up. Joining this championship was another milestone for Jennifer, as she became the first lady to race in this super competitive championship.

Career Highlights:

March 2007 – Made racing debut in Formula Vee at Kirkistown Race Circuit

November 2008 – Became the first lady in Ireland to compete in a Rallycross Supercar

August 2009 – Competed in the Phoenix Park Motor Races

June 2011 – Competed in Carlow Car Club sprint festival – Winner of the Ladies Award.

May 2012 – Competed at the Bishopscourt Races. Became the First lady to Race a Formula Sheane.

The 22-year-old from Rathfarnham, Dublin was crowned Motorsport Ireland’s Young Racing Driver of the Year in 2011. Last year, Aron competed in the UK’s AirAsia Renault Clio Cup and he also made his debut in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. In 2012, Smith is all set to make his mark in the British Touring Car Championship with the Redstone Racing team.

Smith will join some of the biggest names in world motorsport at the Bavaria City Racing Dublin.  The ever growing line-up of international and domestic motorsport talent includes Jenson Button and his Vodafone McLaren F1 team, Caterham F1 team, Eugene Laverty and the Aprilia SuperBike team as well as a host of others.

Smith will drive along the Bavaria City Racing Dublin city track which starts at the Convention Centre Dublin, continues along Customs House Quay before crossing Butt Bridge, chicane’s at D’Olier Street, zips past College Green and the Central Bank on Dame Street before reaching the chequered flag on O’Connell Bridge.

Although Bavaria City Racing Dublin is a free public event and over 150,000 people are expected to line the streets of Dublin on the 3^rd June, there are three ticketed premium performance zones on the track for those who want to get closer to the action.  The performance zones are located at O’Connell Bridge, Customs House Quay and at the Main Paddock on North Wall Quay.  Tickets for the O’Connell Bridge performance zone are priced from €75.90 and are available from Ticketmaster.

Caterham F1 Team, are the latest team from the FIA Formula One World Championship to be confirmed for Bavaria City Racing Dublin which takes place in the heart of the capital on Sunday 3^rd June.

Caterham F1 Team joined the top rank of world motorsport in 2010 and in its first two years in  F1 has consistently been ranked in the top ten of the  Constructors’ championship.  For 2012 the team  has  four exciting drivers in the hot seat, including race drivers Heikki Kovalainen from Finland,  and Russia’s Vitaly Petrov, joined by  Reserve Driver  Giedo van der Garde from Holland and Alexander Rossi as Test Driver, the only American driver currently able to take part in F1.

Rally Championship Car to test the streets of Dublin

Irish World Rally Champion, Eugene Donnelly, is the latest name from the world of motorsport to confirm his participation at Bavaria City Racing Dublin on June 3^rd. The Irish motorsport star comes to the event with five Irish Tarmac Championship wins and 19
international rally wins under his belt to date.

Eugene will excite spectators by driving the MINI Cooper WRC through the streets of Dublin on Sunday, 3^rd June. In February of this year, Eugene finished in 2^nd position (a mere 0.3 seconds behind the overall winner) at the Irish Tarmac Championship in February in the Mini Cooper where the car performed flawlessly over the Sunday stages.

Eugene commented, “I am delighted to be part of this thrilling event coming to the streets of Dublin this summer. The MINI Cooper WRC is a great car and something special to drive, so I look forward to showing it off to the crowds. I imagine the atmosphere on the day will be electric.”

Irish World Superbike star Eugene Laverty is the latest big name from the world of motorsport to confirm their participation at Bavaria City Racing Dublin this coming June.

The 25-year-old from Toomebridge in Antrim finished 4^th in the World Superbike Championship in 2011 and has since teamed up with the Max Biaggi at the Aprilia team to push for the top spot.

Eugene commented, “I’m thrilled that such a fantastic event is coming to Ireland.  Bavaria City Racing visits many capital cities around the world and the fact that it is coming to Dublin in 2012 is great for our country. I’m honoured to be taking part in the event as the World Superbike Championship doesn’t visit Ireland. I can’t wait to experience the feeling of having a home crowd cheering me on whilst I ride the course!”

The GT3 has been created for the Porsche Supercup and the ever-growing number of Carrera Cups and GT3 Cup Challenges around the world. It is powered by the same 3800cc engine as the 911 GT3 RS, delivering 450bhp at 8500rpm; an increase of 30bhp over the previous model.

The new model was unveiled for the 2010 season and was immediately introduced into the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, the Carrera Cups in Germany, Asia, Japan and Italy as well as the GT3 Cup Challenges in the USA and the Middle East.

This is the first GT3 Cup to feature the 44-millimetre wider body at the rear, providing space for even larger wheels. Wider wheel arches at the front also allow the use of new front wheels.

On-track, the new car offers more rear downforce with the rear wing being both wider and higher. Power is delivered through a sequential six-speed manual gearbox and the complete package weighs in at 1200kg.

What is Drifting

Originating in the hills of Japan, drifting can be described as the high speed art of lateral control. Unlike conventional motorsport, drifting does not involve a timing system to determine winners and losers. The object of the discipline is to maintain speed, momentum and acute sideways angles linking a series of curves or corners whilst being judged by a panel of experienced drift experts.
Drifting involves two competitors battling head-to-head in a tournament style knockout system where the driver that remains unbeaten claims victory.

This display of car control is often performed at speeds in excess of 150kph resulting in spectacular sights of highly skilled drivers pushing the boundaries of their cars performance and testing the abilities of extreme car control.
