Ireland’s Japanese racer returns home to perform on the streets of Dublin for Bavaria City Racing

Dublin’s up and coming single seater star, Gary Thompson is the latest big name from the world of motorsport to be confirmed for the Bavaria City Racing Dublin event this coming Sunday, 3rd June.

The 19-year-old from Donabate, Dublin has been racing in Asia for the past 4 years, making a name for himself in the prestigious Japanese Formula 3 series. He also became the first driver to drive a Formula 1 car in Taiwan, when he drove the KCMG two seater F1 Car at the Penbay International Circuit in 2011, a car which he regularly tests and demonstrates at the Yas Marina Circuit, in Abu Dhabi. In 2012, Thompson is fighting for the Japanese Formula 3 title with KCMG, and is also the reserve driver for the KCMG Formula Nippon team. Bavaria City Racing will be the first time since his karting days that Thompson gets behind the wheel of a racing car on home soil.

“I’m excited to be part of the Bavaria line up,” said Thompson. “It’s a great event for Ireland and the city of Dublin, where everyone can get involved and experience the sound of motor racing! This will be my first time driving a racing car in Ireland, which is great to finally do at such a big event, in front of my home crowd too.”

Thompson will join some of the biggest names in world motorsport at the Bavaria City Racing Dublin. The ever growing line-up of international and domestic motorsport talent includes Jenson Button and his Vodafone McLaren F1™ team, Eugene Laverty and the Aprilia SuperBike team as well as a host of others.

Jennifer Mullan brings some “Girl Power” to the Bavaria City Racing Track

Bavaria City Racing introduce Jennifer Mullan

A native of Newcastle County Down, Jennifer’s love and involvement for motorsport began at her local circuit Kirkistown, where she worked as a marshal at race and rally events. Over the years, her work as a motorsport marshal took her as far as Brands Hatch in the UK for DTM and the world famous Le Mans 24-hour race in France. Jennifer went on to sample her own taste of on track action in 2007 driving a Formula Vee in Kirkistown, thanks to an initiative by David Sheane of Sheane Cars to encourage new people into the sport. From there, Jennifer has gone from strength to strength re-writing the history books along the way. For 2012, Jennifer has decided to return to the team she began with and join the Formula Sheane Championship with Sheane Cars. Her first outing was in Bishopscourt in Northern Ireland, a circuit which had not seen car racing for over 40 years and is located just a stones-throw from where she grew up. Joining this championship was another milestone for Jennifer, as she became the first lady to race in this super competitive championship.

Formula Sheane – Fastest one make racing series in Ireland. Formula Sheane have a top speed of 150 MPH and will reach 60 MPH in just 4 seconds.
